Programme Overview
Environmental Health is a very challenging and dynamic field which comprises aspects of human health and disease that are determined by factors in the environment.
▪ It also refers to the theory and practice of assessing and controlling factors in the environment that can potentially affect health.
▪ Diploma in Environmental Health provides students with the theoretical and skill in environmental health management, workplace health, safety, noise control, health promotion, environmental protection and problem-solving skills.
Candidates in this field will learn among them the basics in the field of Health Sciences such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, structure and functions of the human body, statistics; including the research and control of related diseases, law, ecology, pollution, environmental assessment, land use and housing, environmental toxicology, environmental health promotion, occupational health and hygiene.
Career prospects for graduates in the field is open whether in the public, private or entrepreneurship sector. Among the fields related are Environmental Health Practitioner, Health, Safety and Environment Practitioner, Researcher, Academics and Consultant. Among the scope for Environmental Health in the industry is fields relating to Food Safety and Hygiene in the franchise industry (instant foods), Pests and Vector Control, Prevention and Control of Diseases, Occupational Safety and Health, Water Quality, Solid Waste Management, Hazardous Waste Management, Health Promotion, Ports, Construction Industry, Oil and Gas Industry, Hospitality Industry (Hotels & Resorts), Recreational Facilities (Theme Parks) and such.
For Malaysian Students
Pass SPM/SPMV at least 5 Credits:
1. Pass in Melayu Language
2. Pass in English Language
3. Mathematics
4. Any 1 subject (Science/ Physic/ Biology/ Chemistry/ Basic Science or Applied Sciences)
5. Any 3 other subjects (Include credit in Malay Language and/ English Language)
For International Student
GCE/O level with grade C for 5 subjects:
